Opera Design Project at 

The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Collaboration with Cardiff Theatrical Services and Welsh National Opera.

 

As part of the project, the brief asked the student to be innovative and creative in designing a classic opera to engage a contemporary audience. With this in mind, I found that "Don Quichotte" could be used to address many contemporary social issues, including the widening social gaps, old vs. new, apathy, and centrally the Masculine Identity Crisis of the latter 20th Century. These ideas came together to create a modern take on this century old story.
